“For an oldie, this game sure rocks! 1941 is a vertical scrolling game. You have to shoot down a bunch of planes to reach an ‘end of stage’ boss, and after you beat him, you proceeed to the next level.”

“This is one of the most unique side-scrolling brawlers around. I love Mack the Knife (may have a different name in this version) - a homicidal mummy. You can also use a baby in a giant mechanical war-machine. Sweet..”

That background is an artist’s worst nightmare. Kudos to the guy who did it.

“This is a pretty good fast action 2d side scrolling airplane shoot-em-up (WOW!). It has good graphics (for it’s time), a decent variety of weapones, a multitude of bosses & enemies and good backgrounds.”

“Although the story for this game is pretty lame, the actual game is pretty awesome. It’s a 2D side scrolling beat’em - up. It has some cool weaponslike a shotgun, hand-gun, barrels, knives etc. The shotgun and hand-gun provide some good for some good animated violence with blood (as shown in pic).”

“This game was a true inspiration to the early days of Bloodlust. You could pick from 2 generic fighters and of course the legendary Hagar, and proceed to beat the hell out of people, doors, and cars (Oh, my car! *cry*). Picking someone up and slamming them into the ground with Hagar’s spinning pile driver is one of the most satisfying things ever put into a game. The cracks and pashes of the game are perfect, the connection of the hits is perfect, the cheesy acting is perfect. Without Final Fight, there probably never would have been an Executioners.”

“Knights of the Round what? I’d like to buy a table, Alex. This game is a pretty solid side-scroller. It gets a little repetitive, but you keep playing to see the huge bosses and to watch each step as your knight gets more armor/better weapons. ”

“A well drawn and huge game with a lot of different “helpers” and swords. Sounds like fun? Somehow it isn’t. After a few floors you realize how much of the tower is left to do and how much time you’re going to spend doing the same thing over and over again.”

Muscle Bomber Duo (Saturday Night Slam Masters)

 

Yep, it’s big sweaty men in skimpy undies.

 

Smegma and Hellbent won a local Slam Masters tournament by beating the crud out of all comers with Grater and Jumbo. We won free tshirts (which we gave away) and copies of SF2 for the SNES. Booya!

Oh, the beauty of 4-player wrestling carnage.

“I don’t care how many panty-wearing celebrity wrestlers you throw into a game, or how many polygons they flex with…nothing touches the gameplay of this one. I spent so many hours at the arcade dominating this machine, it quickly became one of my all-time favorites. Plus, Grater’s the man. I’m waiting to see these guys in future Capcom fighting games.”

I remember seeing a Punisher cover where he was beating up a crack ho. I like this guy.

“Damn! What was CAPCOM thinking? Not quite a video game but more of a learning game I suppose. You have to answer a series of queestions, and you pick your answer from the 4 that are available. It’s good if you likre trivia or Jeopardy I guess. I mean to be quite honest, I would much rather sit on my couch and watch ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’”

“The grand-daddy of all 2D fighting fighting games. This is the one that started it all. I still remember being a kid and walking into a jam packed convenience store, waiting hours just to play this game. You selected one of 8 fighters, fight your way through each one, then fight 3 bosses to get to the final boss(M. Bison). Ken & Ryu were the most popular characters in this game, and were known for their fireballs and dragon punches.”
